Help John Find a Kidney
John Lynch is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who has faced incredible health challenges with courage and optimism. After surviving kidney cancer, he is now in need of a living kidney donor to continue living the full and joyful life he so deeply treasures.
Meet John
John Lynch is a family man through and through. Married to his wife Chris for 43 years, he’s the proud father of Matt and Margo and the doting grandfather of his beloved granddaughter Nellie.
John loves fishing on Pennsylvania lakes, hunting with friends, gardening, cheering on Philly and Penn State sports, and simply enjoying time with his family.
After surviving kidney cancer, John feels like every day is a gift — and he is determined to keep making memories and adventures with his loved ones.

Why John needs a kidney
John lives with kidney failure and is currently on at-home dialysis. While this treatment helps for now, it’s not a permanent solution. The best chance for John to live many more healthy years is through a kidney transplant.
Unfortunately, the wait time for a deceased donor kidney in his region is 4–6 years, which is far too long. That’s why we are searching for a generous living donor.
With gratitude
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to learn about John’s story. Whether you’re considering becoming a donor, sharing his story, or simply sending encouragement, your support means the world to our family.
Kidney Donation FAQ’s
-
No. Living with one kidney is safe and does not shorten life expectancy. Donors often live just as long — or longer — than the general population.
-
That’s okay. Through the Paired Kidney Exchange Program, your gift can still help John receive a kidney from another donor.
-
No. People well into their 60s, 70s, and beyond have successfully donated.
-
Donors do not pay medical costs for testing or surgery — these are covered by John’s insurance.
-
The wait is years long, and the risks of remaining on dialysis are high. Living donor kidneys also last longer and have better outcomes.
